Crested Butte Mountain Resort is excited to announce our Opening Day theme this year is “Gratitude.” We are thankful for a multitude of reasons this year – including our employees, our guests, our families, Mother Nature, and much, much more! We begin the start of lifts spinning with Donation Day on Wednesday, 11/22 with $15 lift tickets where 100% of lift ticket proceeds benefitting the Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation. Crested Butte South Adds More Amenities to the Neighborhood

CB South just completed the new maintenance facility including new hockey locker rooms and maintenance barn in the park...and it is ready for the upcoming hockey season.  This project was funded with a cash surplus from the last several years and had no impact on the CB South operations budget or reserve fund. This facility is used for all the recreation program equipment, Zamboni storage, Nordic track and summer landscaping equipment. In addition, two new lockers rooms and a drinking fountain were incorporated into the project.

As the morning light fills the base area of Mt. Crested Butte, I’m waiting for a snowmaker and a snowmobile to swing by so I can see what their crew of 27 does with their 12 hour shifts.  It’s frigid out—as in 6F, frigid.  While I sit in the cold, my breath frozen in place by the chill, I wonder what it must be like working all night in conditions like this.
