Donation & Opening Day Outlook

Donation Day

Crested Butte Mountain Resort is excited to announce our Opening Day theme this year is “Gratitude.” We are thankful for a multitude of reasons this year – including our employees, our guests, our families, Mother Nature, and much, much more! We begin the start of lifts spinning with Donation Day on Wednesday, 11/22 with $15 lift tickets where 100% of lift ticket proceeds benefitting the Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation. Kids 6 and under, as always, do ski free on Donation Day! On Donation Day, stop by Coal Breaker Coffee in the Treasury Center to sign the Opening Day banner as to why you’re thankful!

Then, join us for our official Opening Day of the 2017-2018 winter season on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, 11/23. Guests are encouraged to dress as what they are thankful for on Opening Day! Like bacon, dress like it! Love monkeys, ski as a monkey! It’s up to you but it’s sure to be fun! Stop by Coal Breaker Coffee on Thanksgiving Day to write postcards to someone you are thankful for and CBMR will mail them out! To show our appreciation for our guests, we’ll be serving cookies in the Lodge at Mountaineer Square courtyard from 9-11 AM on Opening Day. We will also kick off first chair with a champagne toast for ages 21+ promptly at 9 AM. Stickers will also be handed out as the first lifts begin spinning.

Anticipated Terrain Plans
For Donation Day, on Wednesday, 11/22, we anticipate having skiing and riding from the top of Red Lady Express down via Peanut, Lower Keystone, and Warming House Hill, along with a small Keystone jib park. This is the present plan, it's subject to change.

For Opening Day on Thursday, 11/23, we anticipate having 4 lifts spinning and 9 trails to ski and ride on. As mentioned, this is also subject to change but the present plan is as follows: Anticipated Lifts – Red Lady Express, Peachtree Lift, Pine Carpet, Spruce Carpet. Anticipated Trails – Houston, Peanut, Keystone, Warming House Hill, Bubba’s Short Cut, Augusta, High Tide, and the Pine/Spruce Beginner Areas. There will be a small Keystone Jib Park as well. (But don’t worry, it’ll get bigger as we progress into winter!) Full Donation Day and Opening Day terrain details will be available each morning on our snow report page at

We’re thankful for you, and we look forward to seeing you on the mountain this winter!
