What’s New at Crested Butte Mountain Resort this Winter?
Last winter was an incredible time to be at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The resort received 324 inches of snowfall – with nearly 10 FEET of snow falling in a 10 day span in January – and offered a plethora of new amenities to help guests take advantage of all of that snow. Whether it was women’s specific ski programs that chased the powder, the new Montana Crystal Glide Finish automated tuning machine to make sure you beat your friends down the slopes, or Coal Breaker Coffee Co. slinging made-to-order breakfast sandwiches, crepes and coffee all day long; there were upgrades and additions all over the resort.
So leading into the 2017-18 Winter Season, what new amenities and programs does the resort have on tap?
New Beginner Terrain
Crested Butte Mountain Resort continues to look for ways to encourage more people — young and old — to try our favorite outdoor activities: skiing and snowboarding. To that end, we’ve been busy over the summer improving CBMR’s learning area. Crews have re-graded the teaching terrain at the base to be more beginner-friendly, and re-oriented and extended one of our beginner surface lifts to take advantage of the new terrain topography. These gentle beginner slopes are the perfect spot for newbies to gain the foundational skills and confidence sure to spur a long love affair with the sport.
CB Steep Guides & Butte Camp
There are also two quintessentially Crested Butte options for advanced skiers looking to push themselves this season. Join our CB Steep Guides and get an expert introduction to CBMR’s famed extreme terrain. Or, try Butte Camp, led by PSIA Professional Instructors. This four-day camp includes a First Tracks early lift load prior to opening at 8 am, and continues with technical and tactical coaching on the resort’s heralded Double Black Diamond terrain found off CBMR’s T-Bars.
New Pizza Oven at Paradise on Crested Butte
Crested Butte Mountain Resort is upping the culinary game at Paradise on Crested Butte this winter with the addition of a brand new pizza oven! This addition is a critical component to fueling yourself through the day so you can ski bell-to-bell and be the first of your friends to that next pow stash. Not to mention, there aren’t many better quick lunchtime nibbles than a fresh slice of pizza.
